Red Wings snap six-game skid with 7-3 win over Sabres

DETROIT — The Red Wings found the perfect tonic for their six-game losing streak.
The medicine is called the last-place Buffalo Sabres, who played the ideal opponent for the slumping Wings, Detroit coming out with a 7-3 victory.
Patrick Kane had two power-play goals and three assists against his hometown team, Marco Kasper had two goals and one assist, Alex DeBrincat scored his 30th goal and had three assists, Dylan Larkin had three assists, and Vladimir Tarasenko and Moritz Seider (power play) had goals as the Wings broke out of an offensive drought with a season-high seven goals.
Goaltender Petr Mrazek, playing in his first game since being acquired Friday at the trade deadline, stopped 23 shots.
With the victory, the Wings (31-28-6) moved to within two points of the second and final Eastern Conference wild-card spot — along with Montreal, the New York Rangers and Boston.
Tage Thompson, Josh Norris and Zach Benson (power play) scored Buffalo goals.
The game featured a litany of fights in the third period, in one of the more edgy games the Wings have played this season.
Kane's second goal, his 17th, was key. With the Wings holding a 4-3 lead after two periods, and possessing a 1:18 two-man advantage, Buffalo killed the five-on-three but Kane was able to put back in his own rebound past sprawling goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen at 1:36.
Kasper made it 6-3 with his second goal, and 12th overall, at 5:39 capping a nice passing play with Kane and DeBrincat. Seider scored his seventh, on the power play, on a blast from the top of the slot, making it 7-3.
