Ruben Navarrett Jr.
Political columnist Ruben Navarrette began his freelance writing career after graduating from Harvard in 1990, turning out more than 200 articles for publications including the Fresno Bee, the Chicago Tribune, and the Los Angeles Times. He became a reporter for The Arizona Republic in 1997 and later began writing a twice-weekly column for the paper. In 1999 he returned to Harvard for his master's, and went from working for the Dallas Morning News in 2000 to the San Diego Union-Tribune in 2005. Navarrette's columns, in a large part addressing Latino affairs in politics, have earned him many recognitions, including second place in the 2004 National Headliner Awards and two honors as "Best Columnist at a Daily Newspaper" from the Dallas Observer.
