'NEVER LET GO'
Rated R for strong violent content and grisly images.
What it’s about: A troubled mother survives in the forest with her two young sons, tormented by terrifying visions of ghosts.
The kid attractor factor: This psychological horror thriller is for adults only, despite the two young stars.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Everything is not always how it's been explained.
Violence: Some bloody, violent images and gruesome deaths, danger towards kids and animals.
Language: None
Sex: None
Drugs: None
Parents’ advisory: Too scary and mature for kids, deals with some very upsetting child/parent themes and threatening situations for children. Fine for teens.

'THE SUBSTANCE'
Rated R for strong bloody violent content, gore, graphic nudity and language.
What it’s about: An aging actress reckons with her image after she's been fired and turns to a risky new technology to achieve a younger, better self.
The kid attractor factor: Decidedly not for kids — this is an intense body horror film.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Beauty standards and patriarchy hold women to impossible physical ideals; embrace the process of getting older.
Violence: Some extreme violence, including physical fights and beatings, killings, extreme body horror and transformation, bloody imagery galore.
Language: Some swearing.
Sex: Graphic nudity throughout.
Drugs: Suggested drug and alcohol abuse. Our main character becomes addicted to her beauty regimen.
Parents’ advisory: This is far too extreme for younger audiences with regard to the bloody, gory imagery. OK for older teens.
