Rick Detorie
Cartoonist Rick Detorie began his artistic career as an art (and then creative) director at a Los Angeles ad agency after receiving a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. His work as a cartoonist appeared in many major publications, including National Lampoon, TV Guide, and the Saturday Evening Post. By 1981, he was drawing for Alvin and the Chipmunks, designing most of their merchandise up until 1986. Detorie's own comic, "One Big Happy," debuted in 1988, and has since been collected in four anthologies. You can also spot his work in the opening credits of the 1988 film "Love at Stake."
