Eli Manning putting together bid for Giants stake: report
Published in Football
NEW YORK — Eli Manning has his sights on the Giants.
The two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback is putting together an ownership group to bid for a piece of the Giants, according to Bloomberg.
The report comes months after the Giants announced it was looking to sell up to 10% of the team.
Manning, 44, has spoken to individual investors, including retired NFL players, in the process, per Bloomberg.
In January, Manning, who spent his entire 16-year career with the Giants, said he would like to buy a stake in the team if it ever came up for sale.
“There’s probably only one team I’d be interested in pursuing and it’s the one I played for for 16 years,” Manning said in an interview with CNBC Sport. “And it’s local and makes the most sense, but we’ve just got to figure out if they would ever sell a little bit.”
Manning possibly becoming a minority owner of the Giants would add another franchise to his portfolio, which includes National Women’s Soccer League’s NJ/NY Gotham FC.
