TAMPA, Fla. — For the second straight year, Baker Mayfield will end the postseason at the Pro Bowl Games.

Mayfield was added to the NFC roster Tuesday when Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels withdrew due to injury. Mayfield becomes the first Buccaneers quarterback selected to the all-star event multiple times.

The Bucs have four players on the NFC squad, with Mayfield joining left tackle Tristan Wirfs, defensive tackle Vita Vea and receiver Mike Evans, who was added Monday to replace injured Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb.

The four Pro Bowl players are the most for the Bucs in a single season since 2021, when they had nine.

Mayfield is coming off a career season, having set personal bests with 4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and a 71.4 completion percentage. His passer rating of 106.8 and 7.9 net yards per attempt also are career highs.

A year ago, Mayfield was a late addition to the Pro Bowl but made a huge impact in the flag football game. He came off the bench to throw two touchdowns, including one to Lamb, his former Oklahoma teammate, to give the NFC a 55-53 lead near the end of the third quarter.

That performance earned Mayfield the Most Valuable Offensive Player award.

The NFC, coached by Eli Manning, won 64-59 over the AFC. The final score was determined by combining points from Sunday’s game with those accumulated by each conference over two days of skills challenges.

Just like last year, Mayfield will head to Orlando after returning from the Bahamas; he and a group of Bucs offensive linemen made the trip together.
