Raiders fire general manager Tom Telesco after 1 season on the job

LAS VEGAS — The Raiders fired general manager Tom Telesco on Thursday after just one season.
Telesco, who held the same position with the Chargers from 2013-23, was hired in January 2024 to replace Dave Ziegler. The Raiders were 4-13 his lone season at the helm.
Telesco, 52, deserves credit for his first and only draft with the team. He picked tight end Brock Bowers in the first round, left guard Jackson Powers-Johnson in the second and right tackle DJ Glaze in the third. All became starters their rookie seasons. Bowers set an NFL record for receptions by a first-year player with 112.
The Raiders’ rookie class, which also included fourth-round pick Decamerion Richardson (cornerback) and waiver claims Jonah Laulu (defensive tackle) and Thomas Harper (safety), logged the second-most snaps in the NFL, trailing only the Rams.
Telesco didn’t solve the team’s quarterback issues, however. And new minority owner Tom Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion, is expected to have a significant say in the Raiders’ football operations moving forward.
“We appreciate (Telesco’s) efforts in helping build a foundation for the future,” the Raiders said in a statement. “We wish Tom and his family all the best.”
The Raiders also fired coach Antonio Pierce on Tuesday after his first full season.
