Florida high school alum Luke Loucks set to be named FSU hoops coach

Former Clearwater High and FSU basketball standout Luke Loucks, an NBA assistant for the past half-decade, is expected to replace Leonard Hamilton as Seminoles coach, according to various published reports.
CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reported early Friday afternoon that Loucks, 34, had been offered the job and that his representatives and those from FSU were negotiating a contract. Loucks played four seasons (2008-2012) for Hamilton, who announced in late December he would retire at the end of the season.
A four-year standout at Clearwater High, Loucks helped lead the Tornadoes to a 47-10 record over his final two seasons. Rangy at 6-foot-4 but endowed with point-guard skills, he averaged 13.5 points, seven assists and six rebounds as a senior, earning third-team Class 5A all-state recognition.
A steady — if not spectacular — contributor during his FSU career, he set a then-school record by playing in 136 games and started for the 2011-2012 Seminoles team that finished 25-10 and won the first ACC tournament title in program history.
After spending a few years playing professionally overseas, he joined Golden State’s staff in 2016, winning two NBA titles as a Warriors player-development coach (2017, 2018).
He has served as a Sacramento Kings assistant since 2022.
Hamilton, 76, coaches his final home game Saturday against FSU.
