Bill Maher: Larry David satire of Trump dinner is 'insulting to 6 million dead Jews'

Bill Maher has opened up about Larry David’s satirical essay comparing his dinner with Donald Trump to breaking bread with Adolf Hitler.

The “Real Time” host, a vocal critic of the MAGA leader in the past, gave a glowing account of attending a March 31 dinner with the president alongside high profile supporters like Kid Rock.

He described Trump as “gracious” on the April 11 episode of his HBO talk show, adding: “Everything I’ve ever not liked about him was — I swear to God — absent, at least on this night with this guy.”

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator and star David penned a satirical New York Times article giving a first-person account from a critic of Hitler who accepts a dinner invitation from the ruthless dictator and later decides “we’re not that different, after all.”

In response, Maher — who is Jewish like David — took umbrage with the comparison during a “Piers Morgan Uncensored” appearance on Thursday.

“First of all, it’s kind of insulting to 6 million dead Jews,” the former “Politically Incorrect” star said. “It’s an argument you kind of lost just to start it. Look, maybe it’s not completely logically fair, but Hitler has really kind of got to stay in his own place. He is the GOAT of evil.”

Maher told Morgan he always considered David a friend, and was blindsided about the piece: “This wasn’t my favorite moment of our friendship.”

He continued: “Nobody has been harder, and more prescient, I must say, about Donald Trump than me. I don’t need to be lectured on who Donald Trump is. Just the fact that I met him in person didn’t change that. The fact that I reported honestly is not a sin, either.”

Maher is still leaving the door open to becoming “friends again” with David explaining to “Celebrity Apprentice” winner Morgan: “I can take a shot and I can also take it when people disagree with me. That’s not exactly the way I would’ve done it.”
