'Y2K'

Rated R for bloody violence, strong sexual content/nudity, pervasive language, and teen drug and alcohol use.

What it’s about: A period horror comedy set during New Year's Eve 1999, during which the Y2K bug actually causes the robots to rise up and attack a small town.

The kid attractor factor: Teens will be drawn to the horror genre and comedy elements, as well as the younger cast.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Put judgments and tribalism aside for the greater good.

Violence: Some extreme (goofy) bloody violence throughout.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: References to sex and images of pornography with graphic nudity.

Drugs: References to drugs (ecstasy, LSD) and on-screen drug use (marijuana), as well as teenage alcohol use.

Parents’ advisory: Too mature for younger kids but OK for teens.

'THE RETURN'

Rated R for violence, some sexual content, graphic nudity and language.

What it’s about: An adaptation of Homer's "The Odyssey" sees Odysseus return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War.

The kid attractor factor: Not much — this is an adult drama.

Good lessons/bad lessons: We must all get over our shame and trauma if we are to return home.

Violence: Bloody violence and killing throughout.

Language: Some swearing.

Sex: Graphic nudity and sex scenes.

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Too mature for kids — this is for adults only.
