PITTSBURGH — There is now more to know about what perils will befall the characters on “The Pitt” following the medical drama’s first season conclusion Thursday.

The second season of the hit Max series partially shot in Pittsburgh is already in production, executive producer R. Scott Gemmill confirmed during Deadline’s Contenders TV on Saturday, which was recorded and posted to Deadline’s website. The first season’s finale airs Thursday.

Gemmill, joined on the stage by executive producer Noah Wyle (who plays Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch) and executive producer John Wells, also said season two will take place 10 months later and follow another 15-hour, 15-episode shift — this time on a Fourth of July weekend.

Wyle returned to Allegheny General Hospital in the North Side in February, partly to “grease the wheels” for a potential second season, he told the Post-Gazette then. But that was before Warner Bros. Television announced that season two had been greenlit on Feb. 14.

Several days of location shooting at Allegheny General Hospital in September included a scene with Dr. Michael Robinavitch (Noah Wyle), left, finding Dr. Jack Abbott (Shawn Hatosy) on the edge of the roof.

Now, Wyle is looking for more talent to continue “The Pitt’s” story at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, which was inspired by AGH.

“We’re calling all pros,” Wyle said at the Saturday panel. “We want people who are good with props and who are used to working in a company, with an ensemble. We want creativity. We want passion. We don’t want ego coming to play. We have tremendous people showing up excited.”

The show’s season one cast includes Tracey Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell and Shabana Azeez.

It’s produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with John Wells Productions. Gemmill created the medical drama and executive-produces the series alongside Wyle, Wells, Michael Hissrich, Erin Jontow and Simran Baidwan.
