Ex-“Bachelorette” DeAnna Pappas was recently arrested following an altercation with ex-husband Stephen Stagliano, less than a year after they finalized their divorce.

The 43-year-old, who starred as the lead on Season 4 of “The Bachelorette” and runner-up on Season 11 of “The Bachelor,” filed a restraining order last week against Stagliano following her Feb. 27 arrest on a misdemeanor charge, Us Weekly reports. Pappas was released later that day on $20,000 bond.

Lynn Stagliano, identified as Stagliano’s mother in court documents obtained by both Us and People, said in a declaration that she went to pick up her 9-year-old grandson Austin for school on Feb. 26 when she “very clearly smelled alcohol on DeAnna’s breath.”

Pappas wrote in her response, which also included a restraining order against Stephen, that he came over hours later to fetch their daughter, Addison, 11. Though he wanted to smell his ex-wife’s breath to ensure she was not intoxicated, Pappas said she “had not consumed any alcohol. I ignored Stephen’s comment, and I walked back into the garage.”

Pappas claims he followed her, pushed the garage door up to stop it from closing and “refused to leave.” Stagliano then proclaimed he was calling police.

Upon allegedly seeing Stagliano take things from the garage, Pappas says she went back outside, at which point he “took his hands, grabbing me, and then forcefully shoved me. He pushed me back again.”

Pappas said Stagliano told authorities, who showed up after midnight, “that I was the aggressor who assaulted him, which was false.”

Pappas tested negative after voluntarily undergoing testing for both drugs and alcohol.

Pappas alleged in her response that Stagliano, to whom she was married from October 2011 until their divorce was reportedly finalized in June 2024, is trying “to gain leverage in his attempt to alienate the children from me.” Though she referred to Stagliano as “a good father,” Pappas ordered him to stay 100 yards away.
