Paris Jackson is celebrating five years of sobriety.
The 26-year-old singer - who is the daughter of late King of Pop Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe -took to social media on Tuesday (07.01.25) where she revealed that she had previously struggled with a heroin addiction and alcoholism but is now more than "thankful" that she has overcome her struggles.
She wrote on Instagram: "hi, i'm pk and i'm an alcoholic and a heroin addict.
"today marks 5 years clean and sober from all drugs and alcohol. to say that i'm thankful would be a poor euphemism. gratitude hardly scratches the surface. it's because i'm sober that i get to smile today. i get to make music. i get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat.
The 'hit your knees' singer posted the message alongside a video montage of herself drinking and partying with friends in the past but admitted that now she gets to "show up" for life in general regardless of what is happening because she prioritised her health.
She added: "i get to feel heartbreak in all it's glory. i get to grieve. i get to laugh. i get to dance. i get to trust. i feel the sun on my skin and it's warm. i've found that life keeps happening regardless of whether i'm sober or not, but today i get to show up for it." (sic)
The candid post comes just weeks after Paris revealed that she is engaged to music producer Justin Long after nearly three years of dating.
On his birthday in early December, she revealed that they are set to tie the knot.
She wrote on Instagram: "happy birthday my sweet blue. doing life with you these last years has been an indescribable whirlwind and i couldn't dream of anyone more perfect for me to do it all with. thank you for letting me be yours. i love you.
In one of the pictures, Justin is on one knee whilst a shocked Paris watches as he pulls a ring out of a box."
