Alexandria police investigating the death of former U.S. Attorney Jessica Aber said Wednesday they have found no evidence of foul play, but the investigation is ongoing.

Aber was found dead Saturday following a report of an unresponsive woman. She was 43 years old.

Aber stepped down as the top federal prosecutor for the Eastern District of Virginia on Jan. 20 after serving in the role since 2021.

“At this time, detectives have found no evidence suggesting that her death was caused by anything other than natural causes,” Alexandria police said in a news release.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s final ruling on the cause and manner of her death is still pending.

Aber graduated from the University of Richmond, earning her law degree from William & Mary before going on to join the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Richmond in 2009.
