Tech review: These tech gifts will please anyone

It is getting to be time for gift-giving for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and graduations. Today I have a few gift ideas that I’ve been trying out for a few weeks and I think they’d make anyone happy.
Cuktech 15 Ultra Power Bank
Batteries have advanced in recent years and it is great to able to carry your own power when there might not be a convenient place to plug in and charge your phones, tablets or laptops.
The Cuktech 15 Ultra Power Bank ($119.99, Amazon.com), is a 20,000 milliamp-hour external battery with an output capacity of 165 watts. I’ve included the list price. Look for discounts or a coupon on the Amazon product page.
The battery has three output ports — two USB-C and one USB-A port.
The max output from USB-C is 140W. The other USB-C port can output up to 90W and the USB-A port can output 33W. These capacities are enough to quickly charge even the largest laptop.
Either of the USB-C ports can be used for charging up the battery. You can even use both USB-C ports from two wall chargers simultaneously. The battery can take up to 165W to charge up fully in just 45 minutes. Using both ports to charge is called Beast Mode.
The battery has a small 1.3-inch LED display showing the overall battery charge level as well as the output activity for each port. You can see the estimated amount of time left until the battery runs out of juice. The screen even shows the battery charge level climbing in real-time.
The 15 Ultra is about the size of a can of energy drink and it weighs just 1.3 pounds.
AOHi Future Adonis USB4 2.0 USB-C cable
I’m always looking for a high-quality and fast charging cable.
I’ve been using a very nice and very yellow cable from Future called the Adonis USB4 cable. AOHi launched the cable with an Indegogo campaign. Early bird customers can get one for just $35. There is also sale pricing for two or three packs. The cables are scheduled to ship in April. You can find more information at https://igg.me/at/aohi-adonis-cable/x#/
You can also pick one up from iaohi.com for $43.
It is a 3.3-foot-long cable with a USB-C connector at each end.
The Adonis can transfer up to 240W and it comes in a handy rubber carrying case to keep it rolled up and taking up very little space in your bag.
It can also transfer data at up to 120 gigabits per second, which is really fast. It is compatible with Thunderbolt 5 devices.
The Adonis can also be used to connect your laptop to up to 8K video monitors.
If your phone, tablet or computer uses USB-C to charge or transfer data, one or more of these cables would be very handy.
The Adonis is a bit thicker than most other cables, but I found it to be very pliable and easily coiled up. It wasn’t at all stiff.
When you open it up and uncoil it, you’ll certainly notice the high quality.
Ohsnap! Snap Grip Wallet
Apple introduced MagSafe with the iPhone 12 models and, along with helping line up wireless chargers, the magnets in the back of the phone can also help you carry around accessories.
I’ve tried out the Ohsnap! Snap Grip wallet, which is a metal wallet that can hold up to eight cards.
The Snap Grip ($79.99, ohsnap.com) comes in several colors, including black and carbon fiber. I’ve been carrying the carbon fiber version on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
There is a cutout so you can use your thumb to push up on the cards to slide them up when you want to use them. The wallet is spring loaded to keep the cards in place securely.
The back side of the wallet has a pop-out grip and stand so you can easily hold your phone with one hand. The grip also turns into a kickstand so you can set the phone on a table so you can watch videos at a comfortable viewing angle.
The thing about accessories that use MagSafe is that they have to be removed if you want to wirelessly charge, but that’s not really a hardship.
The Snap Grip exudes quality. I never worried about the wallet coming loose. It snaps to the phone with a solid connection, but comes off without too much effort.
I think $80 is a bit expensive, but the build quality means it’ll last for years.
